What is WorkforNonprofits.org and when did it get started?

WorkforNonprofits.org is a comprehensive, online career management solution for nonprofit job seekers and nonprofit employers.  We are deeply committed to connecting people with passion to organizations of purpose, and are doing that through this site.  The site was launched in August of 2006.

Is WorkforNonprofits.org a nonprofit organization?

No. WorkforNonprofits.org is a service owned and operated by Nonprofit HR Solutions, LLC.  Nonprofit HR Solutions is a full-service human resources consulting firm dedicated exclusively to meeting the needs of nonprofit organizations and is based in Washington, DC.

Why all the talk about passion?

We believe that the difference between a good employee and a great employee is passion for a cause or purpose beyond oneself.  We believe that the individuals who choose to work in the nonprofit sector do so because they have passion and are committed to really making a difference in the lives of others.  We believe that passion, in this context, is equally important as having the right knowledge, skills and experience.

I only have a few years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Can this site help me with my job search?

Absolutely! We list career opportunities with nonprofit organizations at all levels -- including entry-level, mid-career, and for those for more experienced individuals. Our listings of position vacancies change everyday. So if you don't see the position of your dreams today, check again tomorrow! We believe that your opportunity to change the world through meaningful employment is just a few clicks away!

I need a sample position description for an Executive Director. Can you help?

We can. One of the best features of our Employer Center is the sample forms, policies and position descriptions.  They’re all submitted by real-world nonprofit organization and unlike the canned position descriptions found on off-the-shelf software programs, with very little tweaking, you can use them today at absolutely no cost.

What’s the process for becoming a “Featured Employer?”

First, send us an email at employers@workfornonprofits.org.  Your organization must have at least 5 current vacant full-time or part-time positions, and you must have operations somewhere in the U.S. We’ll prominently display your logo for 30 days and visitors to the site will have a direct link to your organization’s site so they can quickly get up to speed on your mission, vision and purpose before applying for any positions.
