Position Summary
Angels’ Arms is seeking a creative, relationship-oriented Community Engagement & Communications Coordinator to help strengthen awareness of our mission and deepen our connection with the greater community.
This position is responsible for advancing Angels’ Arms through communications, public relations, marketing, organizational storytelling, speaking opportunities, and proactive community outreach. The Coordinator will develop compelling content that communicates the impact of Angels’ Arms, increase the organization’s visibility across multiple platforms, and actively seek opportunities to introduce our mission to businesses, civic and community groups, churches, schools, media outlets, and other potential partners.
Working closely with the Executive Director and Development team, this position will ensure Angels’ Arms tells its story consistently, authentically, and effectively while identifying new opportunities to engage people in our mission of supporting foster families and children.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Communications, Marketing & Storytelling
Develop engaging content for Angels’ Arms audiences across the website, social media, email marketing, print materials, newsletters, and other communications channels.
Identify and develop meaningful stories that demonstrate the impact of Angels’ Arms, our foster families, programs, volunteers, donors, and community partners while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and privacy.
Write, edit, and coordinate marketing, fundraising, sponsorship, program, event, and outreach materials.
Help develop consistent organizational messaging that clearly communicates who Angels’ Arms is, the needs we address, and the impact of our work.
Coordinate the design and production of marketing and promotional materials.
Social Media & Digital Engagement
Develop and manage an organizational social media editorial calendar.
Create timely, platform-specific content and campaigns for Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other appropriate channels.
Proactively engage with followers, community partners, businesses, and other organizations to increase awareness and engagement.
Monitor social media performance and engagement data and use insights to strengthen future content and outreach.
Public Relations & Community Outreach
Proactively identify opportunities to increase Angels’ Arms’ visibility throughout the community.
Coordinate speaking engagements, including scheduling, preparation of presentation materials, and follow-up.
Identify opportunities for media coverage and help cultivate relationships with local media contacts.
Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, organizational announcements, and other public relations materials.
Serve as a media point of contact and coordinate media inquiries with the Executive Director.
Coordinate and occasionally represent Angels’ Arms at community events, networking opportunities, and meetings as appropriate.
Collaborate with the Development team to turn increased community awareness into opportunities for volunteerism, partnerships, sponsorships, and philanthropic engagement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred.
3–5 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, community engagement, social media management, or a related role.
Demonstrated experience developing written and digital content for multiple audiences.
- Experience managing organizational social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
- Experience with Canva and familiarity with WordPress, Constant Contact, Adobe Photoshop, or similar communications and design platforms.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Nonprofit, community engagement, public relations, or media relations experience is a plus.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and storyteller who enjoys both creating strong content and building relationships in the community. They should possess:

Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Attention to detail and commitment to consistent, professional communications.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
Comfortable representing Angels’ Arms and its mission in community and professional settings.
A commitment to handling sensitive information and stories involving children and families with discretion, dignity, and respect.
