Founded in 1980, the Central Park Conservancy is a private, not-for-profit organization responsible for the management, restoration, and preservation of New York City's 843-acre Central Park. The organization works in partnership with the city to maintain a public space that welcomes more than 40 million visitors annually. Its mission is to preserve and celebrate the Park as a sanctuary for the well-being of all New Yorkers and visitors.
The Conservancy employs approximately 400 people and operates with an annual budget exceeding $100 million. Since its inception, it has directed over $1.6 billion toward the restoration and maintenance of the park's landscapes, structures, and ecosystems. Its headquarters and work are focused on Manhattan, New York City.
