The Universities of Wisconsin is a public university system serving the state through 13 universities located in all 72 counties, from urban hubs like Milwaukee to smaller towns such as Eau Claire, Platteville, and River Falls. The system enrolls more than 164,600 students across nearly 1,500 degree programs and awards over 37,000 degrees annually.
The system's work extends well beyond teaching. It conducts research funded by more than $2 billion in annual sponsored awards and operates on the principle of the Wisconsin Idea - the belief that education should improve the lives of people beyond the classroom. Approximately 90% of graduates remain in the state five years after completing their degrees.
Each campus offers distinct strengths and cultures designed to serve a range of students, including first-generation and transfer students. The organisation's stated aim is to make Wisconsin "Future Ready. For All."
