Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) is a community action agency founded in 1961. Operating across Boston, Mystic Valley, and surrounding neighborhoods, the organisation provides a broad range of services aimed at helping disadvantaged people overcome poverty in the Greater Boston area.
The agency works within the social services and community development sectors, bringing together a diverse team of community advocates, educators, students, mentors, volunteers, and professionals. Staff members are recognised as the organisation's greatest asset, operating in an environment rooted in a shared commitment to creating positive change.
ABCD's approach is centred on empowering those it serves, with programmes designed to address the multiple dimensions of poverty. Its long-standing presence in the region - spanning more than six decades - reflects a sustained focus on supporting vulnerable communities through direct service delivery and community engagement.
