AHRC NYC is a chapter of The Arc New York, founded in 1948 to provide support and advocacy for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organisation serves more than 15,000 people annually across New York City through a range of services, and employs approximately 5,000 staff.
The organisation delivers day programmes, residential support, employment assistance, and education services spanning preschool through college. It also engages in policy work, challenging outdated perceptions and advocating for changes that benefit people with disabilities.
Governed as a family-run organisation, AHRC NYC is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to resources to thrive. It works toward a socially just world where difference is embraced and celebrated, operating in the disability services, social services, and advocacy sectors for over 75 years.
