Crisis Text Line, founded in 2013, is a global nonprofit that provides free, 24/7 text-based mental health support and crisis intervention. The organization connects individuals in crisis with live, trained volunteers through a text-based service available in English and Spanish. Since its inception, it has facilitated over 16 million conversations worldwide, including more than 11 million in the United States, and responded to more than 350 million messages.
The service is supported by a network of over 100,000 trained volunteer Crisis Counselors. An internal measure shows that 84% of texters report finding the service helpful. The organization operates with a focus on data-driven insights and scalable technology to manage and expand its services across a global presence.
