POSITION SUMMARY
The Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the chief executive leader of Family Housing Advisory Services, Inc. (FHAS) during a defined leadership transition period and is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission, strategic direction, financial sustainability, organizational effectiveness, and community impact.
Reporting to and working in partnership with the Board of Directors, the Interim CEO assumes the duties, responsibilities, and authority of the CEO during the interim appointment. The Interim CEO provides executive leadership and oversight of FHAS programs, operations, financial performance, resource development, organizational culture, and community partnerships; implements Board-approved strategy and priorities; and ensures continuity, stability, and effective organizational leadership throughout the transition.
The Interim CEO also serves as a principal ambassador for FHAS, strengthening relationships with funders, government agencies, community partners, businesses, donors, and other key stakeholders.
Interim Appointment: This position is an interim appointment for a period determined by the Board of Directors. The Interim CEO will serve until the Board determines the appropriate long-term leadership structure and/or makes a decision regarding a permanent CEO appointment. The interim appointment does not, by itself, guarantee permanent appointment to the CEO position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership & Organizational Sustainability
•Provide strategic leadership consistent with FHAS’s mission, values, and Board-approvedpriorities.
•Lead implementation and evaluation of FHAS’s strategic direction and establish annual goals,measurable objectives, and organizational priorities.
•Assess opportunities, risks, community needs, and organizational capacity to strengtheneffectiveness and long-term sustainability.
•Lead the organization through growth, transition, and change while maintaining continuity ofservices and focus on mission and impact.
Board Governance & Executive Partnership
•Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Board and maintain a transparent and collaborativerelationship with Board leadership.
•Keep the Board informed of organizational performance, finances, programs, significant risks,opportunities, and developments.
•Implement Board-approved policies and priorities and recommend policies or organizationalchanges when appropriate.
•Support Board planning, development, committee work, governance, and engagement inorganizational sustainability.
Financial Stewardship, Risk & Accountability
•Provide executive oversight of FHAS’s financial health, resources, and long-term fiscalsustainability.
•Work with financial leadership, the Board Treasurer, Finance Committee, and external financialprofessionals to develop and monitor the annual budget and financial plans.
•Monitor financial performance, cash position, revenue, expenditures, and significant risks andensure appropriate action is taken when necessary.
•Ensure appropriate internal controls, financial policies, and procedures are maintained to protectorganizational assets and support accountability.
•Ensure compliance with applicable financial, grant, contractual, regulatory, and reportingrequirements and support the annual audit process.
Resource Development & Fundraising

• Lead FHAS’s resource-development strategy to maintain a diverse and sustainable revenue base.
• Cultivate relationships with foundations, corporations, financial institutions, government partners, donors, sponsors, and other funding partners.
• Partner with staff and the Board to establish and achieve fundraising and revenue-development goals.
• Provide executive oversight of grants, contracts, sponsorships, contributions, earned revenue, and other funding opportunities.
• Engage and support the Board in its fundraising and resource-development responsibilities.
Program Excellence, Impact & Compliance
• Provide executive oversight of FHAS programs and services to ensure alignment with the mission, strategic priorities, community needs, and funding requirements.
• Establish expectations for program quality, accountability, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement while empowering program leadership to manage day-to-day service delivery.
• Monitor program performance and impact through appropriate data, reports, outcomes, and performance measures.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, contractual, regulatory, and funder requirements.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen, expand, or modify programs based on community needs, organizational capacity, and strategic direction.
People, Culture & Organizational Leadership
• Build and lead a high-performing leadership team and organizational culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, professionalism, and service.
• Maintain an effective organizational structure with clear roles, responsibilities, reporting relationships, and appropriate delegation of authority.
• Ensure effective systems and policies for recruitment, retention, compensation, performance management, professional development, and employment compliance.
• Promote leadership development and succession planning while fostering an inclusive, respectful, healthy, and productive workplace.
Community Leadership, Partnerships & Public Representation
• Serve as a principal spokesperson and ambassador for FHAS, promoting the organization’s mission, impact, priorities, and services.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with community organizations, government agencies, funders, financial institutions, businesses, donors, and other stakeholders.
• Represent FHAS at community, professional, governmental, philanthropic, and other external meetings and events as appropriate.
• Strengthen FHAS’s visibility and credibility and cultivate partnerships that advance the organization’s mission, programs, and resources.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, nonprofit management, human services, social work, community development, housing, finance, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant education and executive leadership experience may be considered.
• Progressively responsible senior leadership experience in a nonprofit, public-sector, community-development, housing, human-services, or similarly complex mission-driven organization.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing budgets and organizational resources, working with a Board of Directors, and advancing strategic priorities.
• Demonstrated experience with fundraising, grants, contracts, government funding, philanthropy, sponsorships, or other resource-development strategies.
• Knowledge of affordable housing, housing counseling, financial education, community development, or related human-service programs is strongly preferred.
• Experience with government-funded programs and grant requirements is preferred.

• Strong financial acumen and understanding of nonprofit budgeting, financial management, internal controls, and organizational sustainability.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead effective teams, foster accountability, and successfully lead organizational change.
• Strong fundraising, relationship-development, and community-engagement capabilities.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and public-speaking skills.
• Ability to work effectively with the Board, employees, funders, government representatives, community partners, donors, and diverse stakeholders.
• Sound judgment, integrity, professionalism, ethical leadership, and demonstrated commitment to FHAS’s mission and the communities it serves.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The Interim CEO must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. The position requires flexibility to work outside normal business hours and attend Board, community, donor, partner, and organizational meetings and events as necessary.
