Work to Protect Wisconsin’s State Parks in Our Canvassing and Field Manager Positions
Our state parks are where we go to hike and fish, and where wildlife finds refuge. But after years of underfunding, they are falling apart – sewers are cracking, roads are collapsing and the parks are understaffed. With 20 million visitors each year, we’re loving our parks to death, and the state legislature just let an important conservation fund expire.
Wisconsin Environment is urging state leaders to prioritize parks funding when they come back in 2027. We’re hiring canvassers and field managers in our Madison office to educate the public about this issue, raise critical funds, and generate the visibility necessary to influence local decision-makers.

- Educate and engage citizens on a campaign to make real change on pressing environmental and public interest issues
- Develop essential communication and political advocacy skills
- Build membership and raise money for nonprofit groups in your community
- Earn leadership opportunities, supervising and managing staff in the field
- Gain the experience and connections needed to launch your career in nonprofit and policy work
We are looking for:
- We are seeking hard-working individuals with good communication skills and a passion for social change.
Benefits*:
- Medical, dental and vision insurance for employees and dependents
- Commuter benefit program
- 401(k) with employer match

*Eligibility for benefits depends on your position, location, duration of employment, and other factors.
Pay:
Canvassing staff earn a base pay of $15.00 per hour, plus can earn 20% of what they raise over our minimum fundraising standard, giving staff the opportunity to earn more than $20 per hour. Staff never earn less than minimum wage for the hours that they work. Depending on performance and location, canvassers earn an average of between $15.00 to $20 per hour.
