PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Marketing and Community Relations Manager is responsible for shaping and amplifying OEDC’s voice across digital platforms to strengthen community engagement, elevate the organization’s mission, and showcase the impact of its programs in North Omaha. This role ensures consistent, professional, and creative communication that builds trust with stakeholders, attracts new partners, and highlights OEDC’s leadership in economic development, housing, and small business growth.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Content Strategy & Digital Engagement – 40%

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with OEDC’s mission and community impact goals.
  • Create, curate, and publish engaging content (posts, graphics, videos, stories) across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter).
  • Ensure messaging reflects OEDC’s commitment to community revitalization and engagement.
  • Monitor analytics and adjust strategies to maximize reach, engagement, and conversion.
  • Collaborate with program staff to highlight housing, small business, and workforce initiatives through compelling storytelling.
  • Monitor, manage and maintain the company website as the administrator and main point of contact for updates and OEDC social media responses.
  • Maintain a content calendar that aligns with organizational priorities, events, and campaigns.

Community Building & Stakeholder Engagement – 30%

  • Serve as OEDC’s digital ambassador, fostering meaningful online conversations and building relationships with community members, funders, and partners.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to comments, messages, and inquiries across platforms.
  • Partner with communications and development teams to amplify fundraising campaigns, grant announcements, and program successes.
  • Coordinate live social media coverage for events, press conferences, and community activities at the direction of the VP of Operations.
  • Build collaborations with local influencers, media outlets, and partner organizations to expand OEDC’s digital footprint.

Brand Management & Strategic Execution – 30%

  • Ensure brand consistency across all digital channels, maintaining OEDC’s professional and community-centered image.
  • Oversee design and production of digital assets, working with graphic designers or external vendors as needed.
  • Track and report monthly performance metrics to leadership, highlighting trends, successes, and opportunities for growth.
  • Stay current with social media trends, tools, and best practices, proactively recommending innovations.
  • Lead and model by example social media etiquette, digital storytelling, and community engagement to foster a unified voice.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:Organizational finances and spending approvals are determined by the President. The Marketing and Community Relations Manager may recommend budget allocations for digital campaigns, advertising, and content creation.
EDUCATION:
A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or specialized training in digital marketing or nonprofit communications is a plus.
CERTIFICATIONS and LICENSES:

Valid Driver’s License required. Certifications in social media marketing, digital advertising, or analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Blueprint) are desirable.
OTHER SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in the nonprofit sector and a keen understanding of the multifaceted roles that a small organization’s team members often assume. To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Demonstrated experience managing social media for nonprofits or mission-driven organizations.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to tone and audience.
  • Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social).
  • Knowledge of website, graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Wordpress, Jumla, Wix, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage diverse communities respectfully.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and OEDC’s mission.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Typical office environment
  • Driving personal vehicle to events and locations in the Greater Omaha area, 20%
  • Requires extended periods of sitting and standing with occasional kneeling, bending, and squatting. Upper body strength will be required to lift, pull, and push up to 20 pounds on occasion.
