Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
- Deliver a structured, hands-on curriculum aligned with SBWI program goals
- Teach students how to assess, document, and execute preservation work from start to finish
- Incorporate both shop-based and field-based learning experiences
- Provide clear demonstrations, instruction, and supervision in tool use, fabrication, and installation.
Student Development
- Evaluate student progress and provide regular, actionable feedback
Support students in developing technical skills, problem-solving ability, and job readiness
- Maintain a professional, safe, and productive learning environment
Industry Alignment
- Ensure instruction reflects current preservation standards, building codes, and safety requirements
- Introduce students to common project workflows, including estimating, scheduling, and coordination with other trades
- Maintain awareness of relevant tools and technologies used in the field
Shop & Project Oversight
- Direct student work at both SBWI campus and at off-site work locations
- Oversee safe use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and facilities
Implement and enforce safety standards (including PPE and OSHA-related practices)
- Model efficient workflows, material handling, and quality control practices
- Ensure shop equipment are tools are functioning properly, receiving regular maintenance, and that lockout tags or other issues are resolved
Program Development
- Work with SBWI President and Chief of Staff to refine curriculum and improve program delivery
- Support development of partnerships, projects, and training opportunities related to preservation work
- Provide program updates to President and Chief of Staff as requested
Work with Vice President of Enrollment to maintain accreditation reporting requirements (tracking student attendance, grades, and so forth)
