The Development Director will not simply raise money—they will help people discover how they can become part of what God is doing through The Haven.

Hours & Flexibility

This is a part-time position with flexible hours per week andaflexible work schedule.

Because fundraising and relationship-building often happen outside traditional business hours, occasional evenings and weekends will be required for donor meetings, fundraising events, community gatherings, and other organizational activities. The Development Director will have flexibility in determining their regular work schedule in coordination with the Executive Director and the needs of the organization.

Development Director

Position: Part-Time
Hours: 10- 20 hrs per week
Compensation: $40/hr

The Haven is seeking a passionate, relationship-driven Development Director to lead and grow our fundraising and development efforts. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves building relationships, telling compelling stories, creating new opportunities, and connecting people to a mission that changes lives.

The Development Director will work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, donors, churches, businesses, foundations, and community partners to build a strong and sustainable culture of generosity around The Haven.

What You’ll Do:

Fundraising Strategy & Revenue Development
  • Develop and implement an annual fundraising and development plan in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

  • Establish clear fundraising goals, strategies, timelines, and measurable outcomes.

  • Identify opportunities to diversify and grow The Haven’s revenue streams.

  • Develop strategies for acquiring, retaining, and increasing individual donors.

  • Create and manage campaigns for annual giving, recurring/monthly giving, year-end giving, and other special fundraising initiatives.

  • Develop creative fundraising opportunities that align with The Haven’s mission, values, and community.

  • Regularly evaluate fundraising results and adjust strategies as needed

Corporate, Church & Community Partnerships
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with local businesses, churches, organizations, and community partners.

  • Secure corporate sponsorships for fundraising events and other organizational initiatives.

  • Build relationships with churches and faith communities that align with The Haven’s Christ-centered mission.

  • Seek opportunities for community partnerships, in-kind support, employee engagement, and other forms of organizational investment.

Fundraising Events
  • Lead the fundraising and development components of The Haven’s major fundraising events, including the annual Gala and 5K.

  • Develop event sponsorship opportunities and secure sponsors.

  • Coordinate donor outreach, ticket and table sales, auction and raffle fundraising, and other revenue-generating components.

  • Develop post-event stewardship and follow-up strategies.

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
  • Build meaningful, long-term relationships with current and prospective donors.

  • Create and maintain a thoughtful donor stewardship strategy.

  • Personally engage donors through meetings, calls, handwritten notes, tours, events, and other relationship-building opportunities.

  • Develop strategies to increase donor retention and encourage deeper investment in The Haven.

  • Identify and cultivate prospective major donors and work toward securing major gifts.

  • Ensure donors receive timely and meaningful communication about the impact of their generosity.

  • Coordinate donor recognition and appreciation efforts.

Grants & Foundation Relations
  • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with The Haven’s mission and programs.

  • Develop and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other funding requests.

  • Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and reporting requirements.

  • Track grant outcomes and ensure timely submission of reports.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with foundation representatives and other institutional funders.

  • Work collaboratively with program and leadership staff to gather information and stories needed for strong grant applications and reports.

Board & Leadership Support
  • Provide regular updates to the Executive Director and Board regarding fundraising progress, donor engagement, grants, partnerships, and development goals.

  • Help create a culture in which fundraising is viewed as relationship-building and mission advancement rather than simply asking for money.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A genuine passion for The Haven’s mission and a desire to see young women thrive.

  • Is constantly pursuing a deeper relationship with Christ. Has a passion for God, which is exhibited in clear obedience to His Spirit and Word.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • The confidence and ability to cultivate relationships and make fundraising asks.

  • Strong organizational and project-management skills.

  • Experience with nonprofit fundraising, development, sales, relationship management, or a related field.

  • Experience with grant writing and/or institutional fundraising preferred.

  • Experience coordinating fundraising events preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Creativity and initiative, with the ability to identify new opportunities without needing every step outlined.

  • Professionalism, discretion, integrity, and excellent judgment when working with donors, residents, staff, and community partners.

  • Alignment with the The Haven’s Statement of Faith, mission and values.

A bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, marketing, public relations, or a related field is preferred but not required. Relevant professional experience will be considered.
