Director of Marketing and Communications
The Director of Marketing and Communications is both strategist and creator. This person will establish a holistic communications approach while also producing high-quality content and collateral. Success requires a strong editorial eye, visual instincts, digital fluency, project management discipline and the ability to move comfortably between big-picture planning and hands-on execution.
Key areas of leadership
- Brand & Strategy - Develop and maintain a rolling three-year marketing and communications plan that broadens audiences, increases awareness of UWWP’s community leadership and sustains year-round constituent engagement.
- Digital & Web - Manage WordPress content, strengthen user experience, guide SEO and inbound content, and use analytics to improve performance.
- Social Media - Develop platform strategies, create engaging content, grow audiences and maintain a consistent brand voice.
- Creative & Content - Design digital and print collateral; write newsletters, web copy, blogs and social content; and produce/edit video from concept through completion.
- Media Relations - Develop media outreach plans, draft releases and advisories, cultivate journalist relationships and track earned media results.
- Events & Storytelling - Partner with Resource Development on event communications, invitations, photography, video and post-event storytelling.
- Cross-Functional Counsel - Serve as a strategic communications partner to departments across UWWP, helping teams sharpen messages and connect initiatives to the right audiences.

The Candidate
UWWP is looking for a versatile communications professional who can think strategically, create beautifully, write clearly and execute reliably. The strongest candidates will be energized by a role with variety, visibility and meaningful community impact.
Professional background
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in digital communications or a related role.
- Demonstrated WordPress content management experience.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
- Experience managing social media for organizational or business purposes.
- Strong video editing/production, photography and photo-editing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of basic HTML/CSS and content management systems.

Compensation, Flexibility & Benefits
Salary: $80,000.
Hybrid flexibility: Four days in person in White Plains and one remote day, at the supervisor’s discretion and when scheduling permits.
Full-time, exempt leadership role reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.
