The YouthBuild Coordinator is a Full Time AmeriCorps position requiring a minimum of 1720 hours. The position begins January 12, 2027 and ends December 10, 2027.

This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps). The VHCB AmeriCorps program supports the innovative dual-goal approach of creating stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape. VHCB AmeriCorps is a national service program that places members with non-profit housing or land conservation organizations around the state.

This position is based at Brattleboro Housing Partnerships: 224 Melrose St PO Box 2275 West Brattleboro, VT 05301 and will involve service primarily at Brattleboro Housing Partnerships’ affordable housing sites: Moore Court and Ledgewood Heights. The member will be supervised and supported by Matt Attesi, Lead LEAP Coordinator, mattesi@brattleborohousing.org

Brattleboro Housing Partnerships (BHP) ensures access to quality, affordable housing in thriving communities while advancing long-term stability and opportunity for lower-income households.

Brattleboro Housing Partnerships (BHP) ensures access to quality, affordable housing in thriving communities while advancing long-term stability and opportunity for lower-income households. Through integrated housing, supportive services, and community-based partnerships, BHP strengthens lives by connecting residents to education, health resources, and pathways to employment. Grounded in service-driven leadership and equity, BHP builds resilient communities where individuals and families can achieve stability, growth, and self-sufficiency.

The YouthBuild Coordinator’s goal is to build Brattleboro Housing Partnerships’ capacity to design, implement, and sustain a structured youth programming model that supports long-term housing stability and economic mobility. The AmeriCorps member will develop systems, partnerships, and program infrastructure for the YouthBridge Initiative, including outreach strategies, curricula, and data tracking processes that do not currently exist at scale.

By establishing consistent youth engagement, strengthening coordination with SASH and LEAP, and expanding partnerships with education and workforce organizations, the member will increase BHP’s ability to deliver integrated, multi-generational services. This will result in sustainable program models that continue beyond the AmeriCorps service term, allowing BHP to expand youth-focused services to additional housing communities over time.

Essential Functions

  • · Develop and implement structured youth programming focused on career exploration, life skills, and leadership development
  • · Design outreach strategies and engagement systems to increase youth participation across housing sites
  • · Build and maintain partnerships with schools, workforce agencies, and community organizations to expand access to services
  • · Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, space planning, and transportation support
  • · Create and maintain program materials, curricula, and resource guides for ongoing use
  • · Track participation, outputs, and outcomes using data systems (e.g., Apricot) to support evaluation and continuous improvement
  • · Strengthen integration between YouthBridge and existing programs (SASH and LEAP) by improving referral pathways and communication systems
  • · Support group-based activities and workshops that build skills and connections for youth participants (without providing clinical or case management services)
  • · Develop systems and processes that ensure program sustainability beyond the AmeriCorps service term
  • · Participate in an Independent Service Project under the guidance of VHCB AmeriCorps.
  • · Participate in all VHCB AmeriCorps Program Initiatives & outreach efforts, and storytelling activities that promote AmeriCorps.
  • · Engage in professional and personal development activities and networking opportunities.
  • · Submit bi-weekly timesheets.
  • · Complete all enrollment and exit requirements.

Service will take place in both office and residential community settings, with a mix of independent tasks, team coordination, and direct engagement with youth and community partners. The typical service schedule is Monday through Friday during standard business hours; however, flexibility is required to accommodate youth programming, which may include occasional evenings and limited weekend activities.
