World Pediatrics seeks a Director of Development to lead the St. Louis fundraising program and team. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented fundraiser with a strong record of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current donors and bringing in new ones. They are a committed manager and mentor who brings structure and accountability while building trust. They stay even-keeled under pressure, especially around major events, and they communicate reliably with donors, colleagues, and the board.

World Pediatrics partners with governments, health workers, and organizations to bring safe, timely surgical care to children in lower resource settings, restoring a child’s health, a family’s stability, and a community’s strength. The organization fields 85 to 90 medical mission teams a year, delivering cardiac, orthopedic, and spine care across the Caribbean and Central America. Children are treated close to home whenever possible, and roughly 65 a year are brought to the United States when they can’t be. World Pediatrics has staff in St. Louis, Richmond, Atlanta, and Raleigh. Five core values guide the work: Kids First, Equitable Access, Rooted in Community, Best Practice to Next Practice, and Shoulder-to-Shoulder.

St. Louis is World Pediatrics’ strongest fundraising market, with an FY27 goal of $2.1 million. The Director of Development will lead and grow individual giving in this market. That includes personally managing a major gift portfolio while identifying, cultivating, and securing new supporters. The director leads a team of two, a Senior Events Manager and a Development Operations Coordinator, and will add a new Gift Officer position.

Signature events bring in roughly two-thirds of the market’s annual philanthropic revenue, so the director works closely with the events manager to make them a success. The role also calls for clean data in DonorPerfect and regular use of dashboards to guide strategy and report progress.

The director reports to the Vice President of Chapter Development, who held this role before moving into a national fundraising leadership position. The director also works closely with the St. Louis chapter board and the organization’s founder. This is a hands-on leadership role for a strategic thought partner and confident independent operator who is happy to roll up their sleeves.

Compensation and Benefits: Starting salary of $100,000 to $130,000, based on experience. Benefits include fully employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 403(b) with company match, generous PTO and paid holidays, and paid parental leave.

Location: The St. Louis office is at 1325 N. Warson Road in Creve Coeur. The schedule is hybrid, with in-office days on Monday and Wednesday plus a third day of the employee’s choosing.
