Father Joe's Villages is Southern California's largest homeless services provider, operating from San Diego across the region. Founded in 1950, the organisation has more than 75 years of experience delivering a continuum of care for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Its guiding philosophy of "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" underpins a mission to serve with dignity and compassion, addressing root causes rather than symptoms alone.
The organisation provides nightly housing to more than 2,500 people through emergency shelters, alongside transitional housing and permanent affordable housing programmes such as Turning the Key. Over the past decade, Father Joe's Villages has helped more than 12,000 people move into permanent housing.
Beyond housing, the organisation operates a range of support services including the Village Health Center for evidence-based healthcare, therapeutic childcare, employment and job training programmes, substance use treatment, and behavioural health services. This integrated model aims to equip residents with the stability and resources needed to sustain long-term independence.
