Kitchen Assistant

To assist the Kitchen Manager and Assistant Kitchen Manager in the preparation of meals 5 days a week for clients, including general sanitation of the kitchen and food storage facilities according to health code. Responsibilities/Duties include:

• Assist the Kitchen Manager in preparing meals according to the set menus
• Accurately follow recipe instructions and ingredient list
• Assist with serving meals and prepare frozen meals from leftover food items
• Assist with daily cleanup, including cleanliness of kitchen, general sanitation, food storage, trays and kitchen equipment
• Maintain safe holding temperatures for hot and cold foods; maintaining accurate temperature logs
• Assist with daily/weekly/monthly general sanitation schedule in the kitchen
• As needed, wash all pots, pans, dishes, and equipment
• Assist in inventory, unpacking & storage of supplies
• Consult with Kitchen Manager on disposal of out-of-date and leftover food items
• Assist in coverage for the kitchen when other staff or volunteers are absent
• Other tasks as assigned.
