SEMINAR EVENTS:Interns are required to participate in three, in-person seminars focused on professional development, learning how cultural organizations operate, and building a network of industry professionals. At the end of the semester, interns complete a final presentation to share their work.

DESCRIPTION: This position will support the Volunteer Services team in the recruitment, onboarding, training, support, and recognition of volunteers throughout the MNHS sites. This position will support the implementation and training of both staff and volunteers on our new Volunteer Management system. Spring is when we do a lot of recruitment for summer roles at sites - the intern will participate in tabling recruitment events in the community.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Provide a high level of customer service to both volunteers and staff in other departments, ensuring consistent communication and relationship building; 2) Support the Volunteer Services team in rolling out a new volunteer management system including system set up, staff training, and volunteer training at various sites; 3) Assist with volunteer recruitment and placement, including posting opportunities, sending recruitment emails, tabling at community events, putting on information sessions at sites, and creating and implementing an in person and online volunteer orientation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, or have graduated within the past 12 months at the time of application.
Ideal candidates might be currently pursuing, or a graduate with a degree in the following areas: History, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, Event management.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a welcoming, customer-focused attitude toward volunteers, staff, and community members.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and comfort adapting to or learning new software systems.
High energy and confidence presenting or tabling at community recruitment events and information sessions.
Knowledge Intern is Expected to Gain:
Project management experience rolling out a new system including training, troubleshooting, creating supportive documents, gathering feedback, and customer service.
Community outreach and relationship building.
Event logistics and set up experience.
Public speaking and elevator pitching experience.
