About Open New York
Open New York (ONY) is a statewide nonprofit fighting for a New York that makes room for every New Yorker. We engage residents from Westchester to Windsor Terrace, building a powerful coalition of advocates for housing affordability. We know that New York's housing crisis is not an accident: restrictive zoning laws block new homes, drive rents to record highs, and push longtime residents out.
Renters lose their leverage, and homeowners get stuck. Since 2017, we've organized thousands of members across the state—and been at the center of major policy wins like City of Yes, pro-housing ballot measures, and statewide environmental review reform. We advocate for more housing of every kind, because more homes mean more opportunity for every New Yorker.
About the Role
Open New York is looking for a Development Coordinator to help build the fundraising operation behind our work for more housing across New York. Reporting to the COO, this role keeps ONY's development work organized and on track, managing donor records in Salesforce, tracking grant deadlines and reporting requirements, and supporting individual giving, membership, and institutional fundraising across our 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities. The coordinator will also plan and run donor events that bring supporters closer to our work.
This is a great fit for someone early in their career who is highly organized, detail-minded, and wants to build a strong foundation in nonprofit fundraising at a mission-driven organization.

- Build and maintain systems, templates, and trackers that help the development team stay organized

- Support year-end giving and other fundraising campaigns

- Plan and run donor events, including logistics, invitations, RSVPs, and follow-up
- Track event outcomes and make sure attendee information and follow-up are captured in Salesforce
