Organization Overview

Safe Streets Safe Neighborhood (SSSN) is a St. Louis based non-profit that utilizes credible messengers to prevent and reduce gun violence through de-escalation and connecting individuals to community resources in St. Louis’ most violent neighborhoods. SSSN’s Founder and Executive Director, Lisa LaGrone, has been a leader in St. Louis violence prevention since the 1990’s, and the organization has recently received our 501(c)3 status and is working to systematize and strengthen internal systems.

Position Summary

We seek an Assistant Director to lead SSSN’s operations, partnerships, and fundraising. In close collaboration with SSSN’s Executive Director, the Assistant Director will develop and implement financial and reporting systems; build and deepen relationships with partner organizations; and lead fundraising efforts. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and highly motivated professional who is passionate about violence prevention and building a stronger St. Louis community.

This is a hybrid part-time position.

Potential in-town travel: 40%

KEY JOB COMPONENTS

Operations

• Track program outcomes and compile grant reporting
• Refine and implement financial tracking and reporting systems, including payroll and grant reporting
• Oversee organizational compliance
• Update and maintain SSSN’s website
• Schedule, and with Executive Director, co-facilitate staff meetings for team of 6 (including this role)

Fundraising

• Research and apply for government and philanthropic grants
• Develop a small donor giving program
• Identify and solicit potential major donors

Community Partnerships

• Serve as a community ambassador for the work of Safe Streets Safe Neighborhoods
• Explore partnerships between SSSN and mission-aligned organizations
• With Executive Director, develop a volunteer leadership advisory council

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Atleast 3 years experience in operations and financial management, or related roles, preferably within mission-driven organizations.
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and oversee logistics.
• Tenacity and the ability to problem solve and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Experience navigating partner relationships and fostering community engagement.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Google Workspace, or similar platforms).
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities 

• Experience facilitating group discussions, workshops, and/or events.
• Experience writing grants and working with donors and potential donors.
