TITLE: Communications Coordinator

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Senior Director of Advocacy and Communications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Communications Coordinator supports the planning, development, implementation, and execution of communications strategies for the South Carolina Office of Rural Health (SCORH).

This position develops and coordinates written, visual, digital, and multimedia content to effectively communicate SCORH’s mission, programs, services, accomplishments, and impact to internal and external audiences. The Communications Coordinator works collaboratively with leadership and internal teams to identify and promote organizational initiatives, program accomplishments, funding opportunities, events, partnerships, and other activities that advance SCORH’s mission.

The position also supports consistent application of SCORH’s brand and messaging across communication channels and platforms.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  •  Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, graphic design, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred
  •  Three to five years of demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, marketing, digital media, or a related field, preferably with experience in graphic design and multimedia content development.
  •  Experience developing content for websites, social media, newsletters, publications, presentations, and other communication platforms.
  •  Experience with photography, video production, graphic design, digital content creation, or related multimedia activities preferred.
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  •  Knowledge of software and technology used for word processing, graphic design, publishing, website content management, social media, email marketing, and multimedia communications.

Duties

  •  Assist the Senior Director of Advocacy and Communications to develop, implement, and manage the organization's communication strategy to align with its goals and objectives.
  •  Develop compelling written, visual, and video content to support digital, print, and multimedia communications.
  •  Ensure consistent application of SCORH's brand standards across all marketing materials, publications, and digital platforms.
  •  Design and produce promotional materials, including brochures, fact sheets, infographics, presentations, event collateral, and other communication resources.
  •  Capture, edit, and manage photography and video content for use across websites, social media, publications, and marketing campaigns.
  •  Design, edit, and manage written and visual content for various communication channels, such as press releases, website content, social media, newsletters, and marketing materials.
  •  Collaborate with internal teams to identify and promote program accomplishments, funding opportunities, and organizational impact.
  •  Participate in the coordination, planning and marketing of events and SCORH annual conference.
  •  Use data and analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of communication efforts.
  •  Attend meetings, trainings, conferences, workshops, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills and to build relationships with partners.  Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Advocacy and Communications or other designated supervisor.

Computer Skills

The employee should be proficient in using computers and common office technology and demonstrate the ability to effectively use electronic client documentation, case management systems, databases, Microsoft Office applications, and other program-related technology.

Travel and Work Environment

The employee must be able to work independently in a variety of client and community environments and must maintain reliable transportation for required travel. Participation in occasional community meetings, events, or activities outside normal business hours may be required based on program and/or organizational needs.
