Position Overview

The GOD'S CHILD Project (GCP) is seeking a passionate, relationship-driven Community Engagement Specialist to join our Engagement Team. This position plays a vital role in expanding community awareness, strengthening volunteer engagement, cultivating donor relationships, and coordinating fundraising initiatives throughout our regional network.
The Community Engagement Specialist serves as the primary liaison for volunteers, churches, businesses, civic organizations, schools, and community partners across multiple states, helping build meaningful relationships that inspire people to support GCP's mission of breaking the cycle of poverty through education, healthcare, nutrition, and family development.
This position combines community outreach, fundraising, volunteer management, event coordination, donor stewardship, and communications to strengthen GCP's presence and increase community involvement. This position covers all 44 US states except for the following states: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Montana, Colorado, and Wyoming.

Community Engagement & Relationship Building (20%)

Build and maintain relationships with churches, businesses, schools, civic groups, community organizations, and individual supporters.

Identify opportunities to increase awareness of GCP throughout assigned regions.

Recruit new community partners and strengthen existing relationships.

Represent GCP at community meetings, networking events, presentations, and outreach opportunities.

Promote volunteerism and inspire community involvement in GCP's mission.

Fundraising & Donor Engagement (25%)

Coordinate and support community-based fundraising initiatives across multiple states.

Assist volunteers and community partners in planning successful fundraising campaigns and events.

Develop proposals and sponsorship packets to solicit opportunities for businesses, community organizations, and major donors asks.

Cultivate and steward donors through consistent communication and relationship building.

Develop and support annual giving campaigns, sponsorship efforts, and special fundraising initiatives.

Volunteer Recruitment & Support (20%)

Recruit, onboard, train, and mentor volunteer leaders and event committees.

Equip volunteers with planning resources, promotional materials, timelines, and fundraising tools.

Maintain regular communication with volunteers before, during, and after community initiatives.

Recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions through thoughtful stewardship and appreciation efforts.

Event Coordination (20%)

Coordinate multiple fundraising and community engagement events throughout the year.

Manage event timelines, secure venue, logistics, budgets, registrations, and volunteer coordination.

Collaborate with internal staff and community partners to ensure successful execution.

Attend selected events to provide leadership, support volunteers, and represent GCP.

Marketing & Communications (10%)

Collaborate with the Marketing team to promote fundraising campaigns, volunteer opportunities, and community events.

Assist in developing content for social media, newsletters, email campaigns, and community outreach.

Gather stories, photos, testimonials, and impact data that showcase GCP's mission and outcomes.

Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all community engagement efforts.

Stewardship & Administration (5%)

Coordinate timely donor and volunteer acknowledgments.

Maintain accurate records in GCP's CRM, including contacts, event participation, volunteer activity, and donor engagement.

Track fundraising progress and prepare reports on community engagement outcomes.

Evaluate initiatives and recommend improvements for future growth.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, fundraising, public relations, or a related field.

Minimum of two years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, community engagement, volunteer management, event coordination, or relationship development.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM/database systems.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout assigned regions, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in nonprofit fundraising and donor stewardship.

Experience working with volunteers and community partners.

Knowledge of peer-to-peer or grassroots fundraising strategies.

Experience with event planning and sponsorship development.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
