Salary Range: $47,000 - $51,000 annually
Position Description:
The Food Operations Manager manages the day-to-day operations for Keystone's Community Food Center warehouse including the supervision of Keystone staff and volunteer activities while overseeing warehouse equipment, training, maintenance, and safety,
This position assists with department program activities as needed, often working independently and providing the management of food ordering and budgeting, inventory tracking and receiving and serves as a liaison to community stake holders.
This position will be required to work a rotating Wednesday Evening Shift from 10am - 7pm for programming needs.
Essential Functions:
50% Warehouse operations
- Develop and maintain relationships with food banks and other suppliers
- Manage food inventory and ordering
- Maintain and adhere to food expense budget
- Coordinate deliveries and community donations
- Work within food expense budget to spend resources effectively
- Organize and maintain the storage of product
- Oversee warehouse equipment including training, maintenance, operation and safety
- Communicate building and maintenance needs to Facilities Team
- Assure that the site maintains a safe environment for participants and volunteers
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community distribution partners
- Actively seek opportunities for operations improvement and recommend changes as needed to Program Director
- Serve as backup for Food Rescue Driver
25% - Supervision
- Hire, train and supervise Warehouse Assistant and Food Rescue Driver
- Monitor staff performance and provide feedback, coaching, and discipline when needed.
- Communicate agency policy and procedures.
- Perform staff administrative activities (i.e. authorize time sheets and leave requests).
- Train and supervise warehouse volunteers
- Supervise youth employees and interns
- Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to assure sufficient volunteer staffing within the program
15% Data management
- Maintain accurate records, including both computerized records and paper files from ordering and inventory tracking
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry of participant records
10% - Other
- Assists with coverage of the food market operations as needed
- Performs other duties or projects as assigned for the purpose of accomplishing specific agency objectives.
Qualification Requirements
- Prior experience working with emergency food services or related social services.
- Experience with resource management
- Previous experience managing and/or adhering to a budget
- Pallet jack and/or forklift experience
- A valid Minnesota's Drivers License and insurance
- Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, comfortable working in an urban setting, experience working with low-income people.
- Good Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work demands.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
- Hold a MN DOT Medical Card and Food Manager Certification or be able to obtain within three months of hire
Qualification Preferences
- A bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field.
- Fluency in another language (Spanish, Hmong, Karen)
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Prior experience working in data bases and data entry.
- Knowledge of community resources.
Physical/Mental Requirements
Physical working conditions include the ability to life 50 pounds from floor to shoulder height and to bend and twist while lifting. Frequent sitting and standing along while completing computer work and telephone calls. Lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling. The ability to climb ladders and stairs.
Mental requirements include ability to work independently while using supervisor appropriately. Problem solving and decision making while exercising professional conduct. Easily adapt to change, capacity to handle multiple priorities and the ability to handle frequent interruptions.
