Human Resource Manager
Build the people function of a mission-driven organization at its most pivotal moment.
LIV Recovery is a growing behavioral health organization built on dignity, second chances, and person-centered care. We serve multiple locations in the St. Louis region, and we are building something that lasts. We are looking for a Human Resources Manager who wants to do more than administer HR, someone ready to design the people systems a growing organization runs on.
This is a rare kind of HR role. You will report directly to the CEO, sit at the leadership table, and own the full picture: talent acquisition and onboarding, policy and handbook development, compliance and risk management, performance management, compensation and benefits coordination, and employee relations. The systems you build will shape the culture of this organization for years, not just maintain it.
Workplace setting: On-site for your first 90 days, so you can meet every team member, learn our locations, and build trust face to face. After that, this role moves to a hybrid schedule.
Compensation: $70k-$80k
What you will do:
- Own full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for staff and volunteers, hiring people aligned with our mission and person-centered approach
- Build and maintain HR infrastructure, including the employee handbook, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and keep documentation airtight
- Develop performance management processes that grow people while holding them accountable
- Oversee payroll processes and benefits administration
- Serve as a neutral, trusted resource for staff and a steady advisor to leadership
What you bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent certification preferred
- Demonstrated HR management experience, ideally in a nonprofit or startup environment
- Strong command of labor law, compliance, and HR best practices
- Judgment and professionalism for sensitive situations
- The energy to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving organization
Why this role:
Most HR managers inherit a system and keep it running. Here, you will design the people function yourself: the handbook, the hiring process, the performance conversations, all of it. You will have a CEO who wants your expertise at the leadership table, a mission worth the work, and the rare satisfaction of watching systems you built hold up as the organization grows.
